As the company's second line of defense, Corporate Risk - or Independent Risk Management - provides independent oversight of risk-taking activities. Independent Risk Management establishes and maintains Wells Fargo's risk management program and provides oversight, including challenges to and independent assessment of, the frontline's execution of its risk management responsibilities. We manage risk according to the Risk Management Framework and ensure all employees understand their individual accountability for managing risk. Corporate Risk roles depend on a variety of skills, including: Data analysis and synthesis, root cause analysis, change management, process management & execution, risk governance, risk strategy, risk identification & assessment, risk prevention, controls & mitigation, risk monitoring, reporting & escalation, risk systems & technology.
Strategic Enterprise Risk Management (SERM) is a group directly under the Chief Risk Officer that is responsible for a variety of strategic functions within Corporate Risk that includes risk reporting, risk governance, risk programs that oversee risk measurement and risk identification, strategic and reputational risk oversight, and risk optimization and strategy. Within that, the Enterprise Risk Programs Integration (ERPI) group is responsible for a number of enterprise-wide risk programs and processes including risk identification, risk measurement, risk management effectiveness, and risk acceptance.
The Enterprise Risk Officer role falls within the Business Liaison group, which is part of ERPI, and provides a focused point of contact for the front line and business aligned risk teams for the following programs/processes: -enterprise risk measurement, risk acceptance, risk identification and risk management effectiveness. This enables better understanding and usage of the enterprise risk programs by the businesses -in order to more effectively identify, assess, measure and monitor their risks.
Key responsibilities will include:
Provide clarity and guidance to stakeholders about program requirements and coach them to effectively adopt those requirements
Understand and articulate stakeholder needs, drivers and feedback to identify opportunities for program enhancement
Evolve enterprise understanding and use of risk measurement, risk identification and assessment and risk management effectiveness programs in ongoing business planning, decision making and practices through front line coaching on effective use of the risk program tool sets to manage risk
Assess front line effectiveness in adhering to program requirements; provide insight and coaching into ways to address areas for improvement
to program enhancement / evolution efforts to build out program capabilities

Required Qualifications
7+ years of experience in risk management (includes compliance, financial crimes, operational risk, audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, IT systems security, business process management) or 7+ years of financial services industry experience, of which 5+ years must include direct experience in risk management

Other Desired Qualifications
Knowledge and understanding of key concepts across multiple financial and non-financial risk types
Experience working with risk programs such as risk appetite, risk metrics, and risk identification and assessment
Experience working in a large matrixed enterprise environment
Ability to influence, partner, and negotiate with stakeholders across the enterprise, to gain commitment to accomplish business goals
Ability to translate ambiguous ideas/issues into well-defined plans/solutions
Ability to set appropriate deliverable timelines and follow-through
Ability to present complex concepts in a clear manner, and in the right voice for the intended audience
Ability to lead self, colleagues, and stakeholders, through adversity and adjust to changing priorities
Ability to anticipate and ask the right questions to assess all facets of an effort
A Master's degree or higher
Financial Risk Manager Certification (FRM), Professional Risk Manager (PRM), Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), or comparable professional designation

Job Expectations
Willingness to work on-site at stated location on the job opening
Ability to travel up to 5% of the time
