Seeking a senior level Operational Risk Consultant to join the Technology Regulatory Relations team. This strategic position will engage with multiple risk and control stakeholders / lines of defense across the bank to fulfill technology related requests from domestic and international regulators. Areas of focus include, but are not limited to: ongoing supervision activities, formal examination coordination and ongoing internal and external reporting.

As part of the First Line of Defense, this team serves as the primary coordinator for all regulatory requests for the Wells Fargo Technology team. Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

Oversee, educate and provide guidance to Technology subject matter experts in fulfillment of requests from domestic and international regulators to include:


  • Preparation and facilitation of meetings with the technology leaders and the regulator
  • Guide response development, review, approval and delivery
  • Ensure regulatory findings are resolved in a timely manner
  • Lead technology examinations and technology components of other line of business examinations
  • Produce management reporting
  • Partner with second and third line of defense to inform, educate, and collaborate
  • Contribute to group work streams and/or department-wide initiatives as needed

    • Accomplish management responsibilities which include sourcing and hiring talented team members, providing ongoing coaching and feedback, recognizing and developing team members, identifying and managing risks, and completing daily management tasks.


      Required Qualifications

      • 10+ years of experience in compliance, operational risk management (includes audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, or the management of a process or business with accountability for compliance or operational risk), or a combination of both; or 10+ years of IT systems security, business process management or financial services industry experience, of which 5+ years must include direct experience in compliance, operational risk management, or a combination of both

        • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
        • Ability to interact with all levels of an organization

          Other Desired Qualifications


          • Regulator relationship management experience
          • Advanced Enterprise Risk Management experience and perspective
          • Experience successfully navigating and influencing global financial institutions on risk management topics
          • Strong risk and control fundamentals, knowledge of frameworks and methodologies
          • Experience in evaluating the adequacy of regulatory responses
          • Experience in assessing risk, writing issues, and developing appropriate corrective actions
          • Demonstrated negotiation skills, especially with difficult topics when partnering with senior management. This includes the willingness and ability to question decisions, understand direction and escalate issues, where necessary.
          • Demonstrated experience with both strategic and tactical approaches to risk management
          • 2+ years Regulatory Relations experience
          • 3+ years experience within a Technology business group with demonstrated knowledge of technology systems, applications, infrastructure and emerging technology and associated risks in a business environment
          • Experience with Technology Risk Governance
          • Bachelors Degree or equivalent
          • Professional certifications such as CSCP, CRCM, CGEIT, CRISC, CITP, CISA, CISSP, CIA a plus
          • Expected to work in approved Wells Fargo office and maintain attendance standards for space allocation
          • Minimal travel will be required for annual team meeting and to provide onsite regulatory examinations if needed. Approximately 4 weeks per year.
          • Flexibility in hours of work may be required on occasion to support international regulatory engagements.

            • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
