Job Summary: The Orthopedic Advanced Practice Provider (PA) will work collaboratively and under the direction of the orthopedic surgeons to deliver comprehensive musculoskeletal care in both the clinic and operating room. Responsibilities include evaluating patients, ordering and interpreting diagnostic studies, developing treatment plans, and performing procedures such as joint injections and fracture management. The PA assists surgeons as a first assist during orthopedic surgeries, including arthroplasty, arthroscopy, and fracture fixation. Additionally, the PA manages preoperative and postoperative care, coordinates rehabilitation, and provides patient education to support optimal surgical outcomes and continuity of care. The position will act as an ambassador on behalf of the company with customers, clients, and vendors in public. Essential Duties (not limited to): Promotes and maintains patient health by providing medical services under the supervision of a physician. Contributes to a physician’s efficiency by identifying short-term and long-range patient care issues. PA will be expected to cover any surgery supervising physician performs which may include nights and weekends. PA will be traveling with supervising physician to Outreach Clinics. Recommends options and courses of action for patient care. Implements physician directives. Assesses patient health by interviewing patients and performing physical examination including obtaining, updating, and studying medical histories. Determines abnormal conditions by administering or ordering diagnostic tests, such as imaging and laboratory studies and interpreting test results. Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records. Performs therapeutic procedures by administering injections and immunizations, suturing, and managing wounds and infections. Instructs and counsels patients by providing normal growth and development information and providing counseling on emotional problems of daily living. Provides community of care by developing and implementing patient-management plans. Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations. Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols. Complies with federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; and enforcing adherence to requirements and advising management on needed actions. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies. Develops health care team staff by providing information, educational opportunities, and experimental growth opportunities. Assist with the coverage of local sporting events as allowed and directed by Employer. Skills and/or Qualifications (not limited to): Strong analytical and technical skills. Detail oriented with good problem-solving skills. Excellent teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills. The ability to treat patients with compassion and empathy. Demonstrated competency treating patients of all ages. Physical Requirements: · Bending/twisting/lifting. · Ability to lift and/or carry up to fifty (50) pounds. · Keen sense of eyesight and hearing. · Ability to stand or sit for an extended period. · Ability to lift, grip, carry, touch, speak, and listen. · Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and moving. · Frequent exposure to chemicals, bloodborne pathogens, and patient body fluids. Education and/or Experience: · Completion of a four-year Advanced Practice Provider baccalaureate program and a year of clinical training, or; · Completion of a two-year accredited Advanced Practice Provider program (which requires two years of undergraduate study) plus two years of clinical training following completion of PA program. · State accreditation based on certifying exam. · Continued employment requires 100 hours of continuing medical education every two years and passing a recertification examination every six years.
