Job Description:
The Executive Director of Revenue Integrity is responsible for
organizing, leading, and improving revenue cycle performance at all
facilities/clinics throughout the system. This position will focus
on strategy, implementation and the continuous improvement in key
revenue cycle department/functions. The Executive Director plays an
important role in a high-profile group tasked with improving
revenue results by taking a global view of the financial processes,
functions and interdependencies from the initial patient contact
through the final bill generation and payment. The position also
needs to be knowledgeable on the interdependency of the Revenue
Cycle performance and shared savings results.
The Executive Director of Revenue Integrity will establish strong
relationships across the organization maintain visibility and
foster a culture focused on quality, operational improvement and
accountability. This position will work closely with Revenue Cycle,
HIM, and Finance leadership to collaborate on advancing strategic
direction and efficiency. This position will represent UnityPoint
Health in matters related to the operational performance of the
Revenue Integrity department.
This position is open to remote/work from home with strong
preference for candidates residing within the UPH geographies of
Iowa, Illinois, & Wisconsin.

Operational Leadership
Provide strategic planning and direction of innovative long-range
strategy to achieve initiatives, priorities and goals of Revenue
Integrity department. Ensure the strategy aligns with the overall
mission and vision of UnityPoint Health and its affiliates.
Drive execution and transformational change within Revenue
Integrity team to ensure effective, efficient, sustainable,
compliant, and leading edge operations to contribute to the
financial success of UnityPoint Health.
Ensure goals and services provided by the Revenue Integrity
department and staff are aligned with organizational key
performance indicators, goals and objectives.
Represent department in system-wide efforts to meet regulatory
requirements and to improve the quality and performance of revenue
cycle at all facilitates/clinics.
Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, regions, and
team members creating an environment where UnityPoint Health values
are continuously exceeded.
Oversee new systems, products, and business implementations for
Revenue Integrity team. Assess organizational strengths and
weaknesses to recommend enhanced operational model.
Lead standardizing, creating and sustaining a common culture and
high performing operation aligned with UnityPoint Health-System
Services priorities and serving the needs of our regions and
patients.
Motivate, facilitate, mentor, and coach team to deliver high
quality, cost effective services. Facilitates the ongoing learning,
well-being, professional satisfaction and development of staff
through training, work assignments, increased responsibility, and
mentoring.
Evaluate performance of direct reports and teams. Make
recommendations for personnel actions and motivate employees to
achieve peak productivity and performance.
Develop procedures and policies for the operation of department,
process and team members.
Develop department budgets for staffing, operations, and capital
resources. Manage actual costs to budget and proactively address
any unfavorable budget variances.
Maintain a strong, collaborative relationship and provide clear
communication with all facilitates.
Present data, strategies, and progress toward goals in various
governance management forums.
Maintain strong executive presence with regional CFO's.
Lead a cross functional team of department leaders for ongoing
revenue cycle improvement and mitigating the risk of denials
(denials prevention)
Process Improvement and Analytics
Deliver financial results through process improvement initiatives
in line with the comprehensive organizational strategy.
Lead and manage complex Revenue Cycle projects, working with key
stakeholders across UnityPoint Health.
Coordinate and implement revenue cycle initiatives, including
identifying and assembling resources when necessary.
Develop and manage initiatives to ensure the operations of the
denials management team is in line with organizational goals.
Initiatives will be implemented by cross-functional teams.
Interpret and oversee the implementation of complex rules and
regulations governing insurance, appeal activities, trends, etc.
and will make recommendations.
Actively engages, partners, and influences organizational leaders
to ensure that operations and processes remain consistent and
emulate best practices.
Work collaboratively with key stakeholders throughout UnityPoint
Health to ensure that revenue and reimbursement are properly
reported and support the services provided.
Performance Monitoring
Establish and maintain ongoing performance monitoring.
Liaison with relevant stakeholders to develop priority projects and
provide expert advice on best practice processes.
Actively monitor operational performance to anticipate and meet the
needs of leadership. Maintain revenue cycle KPI's within
established industry and/or UnityPoint Health standards and
instills accountability and ownership at the appropriate level.
Meet with department leaders to review and interpret revenue cycle
reports to drive accountability and transparency in
performance.
Ensure revenue cycle data quality monitoring and related training.
Monitor work unit compliance with internal controls and develops
remediation plans to address identified control weaknesses.
Revenue Integrity and Compliance
Responsible for ensuring reimbursement is optimized and processes
are put in place to minimize revenue leakage.
Interface with regional CFO's through operational performance
reviews and ad-hoc troubleshooting.
Ensures that organizational integrity and regulatory standards are
maintained in all Revenue Cycle policies, procedures and processes.
Ensure that all team members know and understand their roles
related to regulatory compliance.
Facilitate compliance with administrative/legal requirements and
governmental regulations as they relate to Revenue Cycle
operations.
Oversee revenue integrity of clinical departments in collaboration
with the Informatics team providing education, training and tools
for departments to successfully capture charges.
Education:
Bachelor's degree required in finance, business administration, or
health management related field
Preferred:
Master's Degree in finance, business administration, or a health
management related field.
Experience:
10 years of related experience in the revenue cycle or finance.
10 years of management experience required.
License(s)/Certification(s):
Valid driver's license when driving any vehicle for work-related
reasons.
Preferred:
HFMA, MGMA or AHIMA certification desirable.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Strong leadership skills including professionalism, interpersonal
skills, ability to communicate and negotiate effectively through
written and verbal methods with varied audiences
Demonstrated ability with process improvement.
Fluent with Epic and Microsoft office programs. Ability to
manipulate large amounts of data.
Demonstrate and promote system thinking, including strong
understanding of interrelationships of departmental delivery
systems and the ability to collaborate across service lines and
affiliates to ensure integrated delivery of services.
Knowledge of change management.
Ability to lead cross functional teams.
Ability to manage large projects.
Knowledge of regulatory and accreditation requirements.
