PURPOSE OF THE POSITION* To prospect, engage and close accounts in partnership with operations, logistics and brokerage departmentsJOB DESCRIPTIONAt GTI, we value our clients and are committed to providing them with safe, exceptional transportation and logistics services. We push the boundaries of traditional transportation to provide advantages to our clients to enable them to be successful in their respective market spaces.Reporting to the VP of Business Development and Solutions, the Business Development Manager will be responsible for generating income from both new and existing accounts, while building strong and long-lasting relationships with their business partners.As a Business Development Manager, your focus will be to sell our over-the-road mode of transportation via our non-asset (3PL) divisions and have excellent knowledge of open deck and closed van trailers. The chosen candidate will generate new business and help grow existing accounts. This role combines inside sales, account management, customer care and logistics. As a self-starter, you will be in daily contact with potential clients working to sell and build strong relationships, and with existing clients to help grow accounts.What you will be doing:* Prospect for new clients via phone (cold calls), internet, dormant CRM accounts, referrals, trade shows and events, and networking* Hunt and generate new sales opportunities through, mining, analysis, and discovery* Identify opportunities to further penetrate accounts by selling a diverse service portfolio* Visit clients and present on company and our service offerings* Execute hands-on approach and sense of urgency with client contact and communication* Partner with internal operations teams to create effective solutions based on client needs, including appropriate pricing strategies, solution implementation and future client growth* Develop and maintain meaningful account relationships with contacts at multiple levels within client organization* Maintain the organizational culture, values and reputation in our markets with all staff, clients, vendors and partners* Monitor market conditions, innovation and trends, as well as competitors' performance, pricing and sales strategies, to maximize competitive stance* Other business development and sales duties as neededKnowledge, skills and abilities:* Results-driven and process-driven* Excellent verbal communication skills, including telephone, email and interpersonal skills* Clear and effective written communication skills* Ability to build strong, long-term professional relationships with internal operations and external clients* Strong listening skills, with ability to hear and address concerns in an empathetic and problem-solving manner* Strong organizational, project management, time management and analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail* Ability to learn, adapt and become proficient in sales technologies, including but not limited to: Microsoft Office Suite, social media platforms, webinar platforms, Salesforce (CRM systems)* Ability to thrive in fast-paced, fluid environment juggling multiple priorities and responding to high-pressure, timely situations with poise and sense of urgency* Willingness to travel, as neededEducation and Experience* Bachelor's degree in business or related field* 3+ years' sales experience in the transportation and logistics industry* Solid experience in a 3PL (non-asset) and asset-based environment.* Strong working knowledge of all modes, TL and LTL (flatbed and van)* Strong over-the-road transportation experienceWe offer a competitive base salary + a strong commission structureShould this opportunity be of interest to you and you meet all the requirements, please send us your resume, it will be a pleasure to speak to you.Sales, Business Development Representative, Logistics, trucking, open deck, closed van, transportation, flatbed, step deck, double drop, dry van
